How To Remove A Gmail Account From Your Iphone
Google has a new gesture-based account switcher in some of its mobile apps that allows you to swipe between your various Google accounts. Here's how to use it in Gmail, Google Maps, Drive, and more on Android, iPhone, and iPad.
The new account switcher was announced at the Google I/O 2019 developer conference and replaced an outdated-looking sidebar menu. Instead of having to tap on a hamburger menu icon and dig through a drop-down menu, users can manage their accounts straight from the app's homescreen.
To use Google's new account switcher, first, make sure you are signed into at least two Google accounts on your phone or tablet. Android users can do this from the device's settings menu and iPhone and iPad owners can add additional accounts using the Google app.
Once that is taken care of, open the Gmail app (or one of Google's other newly-updated apps). Next, locate your account's avatar located on the right side of the search bar. To quickly switch accounts, swipe downward on the avatar's image.
As you can see from the GIF above, quickly swiping down on your account's avatar will switch to the next Google account. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a way to adjust the order of the accounts manually. You will need to keep swiping downward until you rotate to the desired account.
If you want a little more control over the account switching feature, you can tap on your avatar to see all of your available accounts. Doing this will bring up a new menu for switching accounts as well as adding accounts and managing the ones already on the device.
At the time of writing, Google has already rolled out this feature to its mobile Gmail, Google Maps, and Drive apps on Android, iPhone, and iPad. Android users will also find the new account switcher in the Contacts app.
Google has stated that it will bring its new account switching feature to more apps over the coming months. Although we expect this change to come to most of the company's apps, the tech giant confirmed that YouTube, Chrome, Google News, and several others should see the feature by the end of summer 2019.
